Strong Moms

Take the StrongMoms Empowerment Pledge

Strong moms rock, and I am proud to know many. Strong moms make difficult choices for the benefit of their children, yet don't sacrifice their individuality at their expense. Strong moms do what is right for their child, even when it seems like everything else is going wrong. Strong moms support and encourage one other, and are there to lend a hand during tough times without judging or criticizing. Strong moms may sometimes feel like their strength is diminished and may need a friend to remind them about what they are capable of, and that's why I took the pledge to support moms.

Head over to strongmomsempower.com and take the pledge yourself.

"The Happiest Baby Guide to Great Sleep" review and Facebook giveaway

Click on the photo above to enter to win this book on Facebook!

As a member of the One2One Network, I was chosen to receive "The Happiest Baby Guide to Great Sleep" by Harvey Karp, M.D. to read and review. Sleep is the #1 concern of parents everywhere, and in this book Dr. Karp shares his knowledge and expertise.

This book has a very straightforward format. You can read the introductory chapter that focuses on the science of sleep (written in easy-to-understand language), and then go on to the section that corresponds with the age of the child in your life that you are wanting to get to sleep better. Each part is broken up into smaller sections, which makes it easy to read just a little at a time (as most parents know, picking up a book is almost like sending out a signal to your child that it is time for something important to happen so you will be sure to get interrupted while reading). There are also short summaries at the end of each chapter that hit the ideas that were just covered, which is something that I think could be extremely useful for someone who is trying to page back through after reading to refresh their mind a bit about the concepts.

I found that the majority of the advice was already familiar to me, as a parent of a five-year old. I have read many other parenting books, so many of the techniques that were suggested were ones that I am already well-acquainted with. However, there were several ideas that were new and seemed as though they would be effective. Included in the back of this book are some sample sleep-schedule charts and a wake/sleep diary that you can use to track your child's habits, which can in turn be analyzed to see where changes may need to be made.

Overall, I think that this book could be a great help to a parent who is struggling to get their child to conform to sleep patterns that are healthy for the whole family. It is easy to understand and does not take a very long time to read, so if you are someone who needs some quick and relatively easy tips, this would be an ideal choice.

I am holding a giveaway of the book that I received and read on the Keeping up with the Kershes Facebook page. All that you need to to to enter is "LIKE" and click "SHARE" on this photo on the Facebook page.

Dial Kids Body+Hair Wash review, giveaway, and sweepstakes

Review:

Dial recently sent me two new products to try in exchange for my review of them...Dial Kids Body+Hair Wash.

Dial Kids meant for ages 2-5, this body wash is for kids that have outgrown traditional newborn soaps, yet are not ready for adult strength body and hair wash. The Peachy Clean variety provided gentle cleansing, and my son told me that he likes the way it smells. I wasn't the biggest fan of the peach scent, but at the same time did not find it unpleasant.

Dial Kids meant for ages 6+, this one offers mild cleansing without drying out your child's delicate skin. It comes in Watery Melon and Berry Cool (we tried the Watery Melon scent). I liked the scent of it, and I am looking forward to eventually checking out the Berry Cool variety as well.

Although my son is 5, I went ahead and tried both varieties on him since he is on the cusp of the age groups that each is meant for. Both body washes that we tried were effective at cleaning my son's hair and skin. They provided an ample amount of suds with just a small amount of product. We used around a nickel size dollop on a cleansing pouf, which was enough for the entire bathing experience (which includes, as usual, giving the boy a bubbly white Elvis hairstyle, a beard and mustache of suds, and a few extra soapy foot tickles). The scents were light and fresh, and his hair and skin seemed to be adequately moisturized.

Both varieties are tear free, hypoallergenic, and PH balanced, with no artificial dyes or added parabens

Be sure to check out Dial on Facebook and Twitter.

Purex Natural Elements Tropical Splash review, giveaway, and sweepstakes

Review:

I am so glad to be a Purex Insider...I love trying new products and offering great giveaways to my blog's readers.  Recently, I was sent a bottle of  Purex Natural Elements Tropical Splash.  The first thing I did when I opened the package was take the cap off and see what it smelled like. I was pleased to inhale a unique blend of the scents of tropical flowers, pineapple and coconut.  I tried it in my laundry, along with the Tropical Splash scented Purex Crystals and was very happy with the result.

One of the great things about this brand is that it is formulated with natural fragrance extracts, and is gentle enough for sensitive skin. It's hypoallergenic and dye-free, yet it packs some serious cleaning power with Purex's "DirtLift Action." The formula is also biodegradable and promotes "green cleaning" practices. As with all Purex detergents, it is optimized for performance in traditional or high-efficiency washing machines and is very inexpensive compared to other detergent brands.
